Groundbreaking on New Life Sciences Building at Nassau Community College

There will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the New Life Sciences Building at Nassau Community College this Friday, June 11, 2010. The $40 million Life Sciences Building will house the Nursing and Chemistry departments, benefitting approximately 1,300 students annually. The building will be “U” shaped with glass walls lining, and an open-air courtyard enclosed in, the inside of the U. It will incorporate smart boards and wireless technology throughout. The building design seeks to attain a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) “Gold” certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. Construction on the Life Sciences Building is expected to take 20 months.
