NOVEMBER 5, 2009 â THE ARCHES AT DEER PARK NAMED 2009 NATIONAL BEST OF THE BEST RETAIL PROJECT BY MCGRAW-HILL CONSTRUCTION
Each year, McGraw-Hill Construction holds a national competition that recognizes excellence in construction and design. The Best of the Best Awards are based upon the winners of McGraw-Hill Constructionâs 10 regional publications Best of 2009 Awards.
Aurora Contractors is proud to announce that The Arches at Deer Park, for which Aurora acted as Construction Manager, has earned the 2009 National Retail Best of the Best Award.
The National Best of the Best are chosen from a pool of thousands of regional contestants, based upon excellence in several categories, including Teamwork and Project Management; Safety; Innovation; Contribution to the Community; Quality and Craftsmanship and Aesthetics.
The Arches at Deer Park project, an 84 acre, 805,000 square foot, open-air mall, was designed to emulate an old European village. This center differs from other Tanger Outlet centers in many ways; among them are an open courtyard and fountain that serve as an ice rink in the winter months and a 16-screen multiplex, complete with IMAX. The Arches also features restaurants in addition to the food court, so shoppers can sit and enjoy a leisurely meal.
The Arches at Deer Park is the first LEED project to be built in the Town of Babylon and is the largest Green project on Long Island. The project team is currently in the final stages of obtaining LEED Certified status.
Given a tight deadline for opening by the developers of the project, Auroraâs construction management team banded together to meet the target date. Their unequaled management and communication skills, coupled with Auroraâs trademark teamwork mentality, enabled the center to open on time.
